International Relations of the Middle East (IRME, Summer Semester 2026)
The International Relations of the Middle East" for the Winter Semester 2025-2026 is structured
around various major thematic units that explore issues in the Middle East in consideration of
historical and conceptual knowledge related to state politics and formation, identity, regional and
global hegemony, and the Middle East in the world. This course takes the shape of a roundtable and
discusses topics relevant to politics, society, and conflicts in and of the Middle East.
This course is offered as part of the Master of Arts program in International Studies / Peace Conflict
Research. With permission, this course can be selected as an outside option by students in other
programs, if regulations allow, and provided a (good) prior knowledge in International Relations.
