Climate and Sedimentary Systems

Course title picture
Wintersemester 2021 / 2022 Climate and Sedimentary Systems

This course provides knowledge about the effects of climate change on sedimentary processes in marine and terrestrial environments. Non-linear environmental feedbacks of the Earth System distort the propagation of climate signals, wherefore variable sedimentary successions will be assessed for their potential as climate archives. In a computer lab, students will learn techniques of graphical correlation and time series analysis. Further, the course provides information about the basic principles of cyclostratigraphy  and astrochronology.

The course will be given in presence as a short-course. The number of participants is limited to 10.
