Sequence Stratigraphy
This course provides knowledge in sequence stratigraphy. Furthermore,
causes, processes and mechanisms leading to the formation and filling
of sedimentary basins are discussed. Sequence stratigraphy describes
the spatio-temporal distribution of facies in a basin as a response of
the sedimentary system to changes in sea level, available depositional
space, and the amount of sediment supplied.
Exercises will include facies and sequence interpretations using
outcrop and borehole data. This semester's course is planned to be
taught in presence. In case of changed teaching rules as a result of
increased numbers of infections we will sift to a digital from via
video transmission. In this case, exercises will be worked on as homework.
The course will be taught in German or English.
